MagNeuro provides, in
three capsules,
300 mg of magnesium, equivalent to
80% of the NRV, in the form of
bisglycinate and citrate. This mineral base is complemented by
30 mg of taurine and
five B vitamins, each dosed at
100% of the NRV: vitamins B1, B3, B5, B6 and B9.
Magnesium at the heart of the formula Magnesium contributes to
several hundred reactions essential to the body. In particular, it helps cells use ATP, their main energy reserve. This function explains its contribution to
normal energy-yielding metabolism and the
reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
In the nervous system, magnesium is involved in the electrical exchanges that enable nerve cells to transmit their messages. It therefore contributes to the
normal function of the nervous system and
normal psychological function. It also contributes to the balance of minerals inside and outside cells.
In the muscles, magnesium supports the successive mechanisms of contraction and relaxation of the fibres. It contributes to
normal muscle function,
electrolyte balance and
normal protein synthesis. These properties make the formula relevant during periods of physical activity or when the pace of daily life places greater demands on the muscles and nervous system. Magnesium also contributes to the
maintenance of normal bones and teeth. These functions are recognised by European regulations and described by
ANSES as well as in the European Regulation on health claims.
Two complementary forms Magnesium citrate is a salt formed from magnesium and citric acid.
Bisglycinate is a chelated form in which magnesium is bound to two glycine molecules. Both sources are
authorised for the manufacture of food supplements in the European Union. Citrate and amino-acid chelates are among the organic forms commonly selected for their
digestive availability.
The name magnesium comes from the Greek region of Magnesia. The metal was isolated in small quantities in
1808 by Humphry Davy. In a food supplement, it is naturally not used in metallic form, but as
salts capable of releasing magnesium that the body can absorb.
Five B vitamins for energy and nervous-system balance B vitamins mainly act as enzyme assistants. They enable the body to
use carbohydrates, fats, proteins and amino acids, while contributing to the
function of nerve cells.
•
Vitamin B1 – 1.1 mg: it helps convert nutrients into energy and contributes to the
normal function of the nervous system and
normal psychological function.
•
Vitamin B3 – 16 mg: it is a component of NAD and NADP, two molecules that carry energy during cellular reactions. It contributes to
energy-yielding metabolism, the
function of the nervous system,
normal psychological function and the
reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
•
Vitamin B5 – 6 mg: it is needed to make coenzyme A, a molecule central to the use of fats, carbohydrates and certain amino acids. It contributes to
normal energy-yielding metabolism,
normal mental performance and the
reduction of tiredness and fatigue. It is also involved in the synthesis and metabolism of certain neurotransmitters, steroid hormones and vitamin D.
•
Vitamin B6 – 1.4 mg: it supports the metabolism of proteins, amino acids and glycogen. It contributes to the
normal function of the nervous system,
normal psychological function,
red blood cell formation and the
reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
•
Vitamin B9 – 200 µg: folates contribute to the
formation of new cells, amino-acid synthesis and
normal blood formation. They also contribute to
normal psychological function and the
reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
These complementary roles are detailed in the scientific review devoted to B vitamins and brain function and correspond to
authorised European claims.
Additional taurine Taurine is a sulphur-containing compound naturally present in the body, particularly in the
brain, heart and muscles. It is naturally involved in regulating cell volume, calcium movements and cell-membrane stability.
MagNeuro provides
30 mg per day.
A formula suited to demanding periods MagNeuro’s main advantage lies in its
simultaneous nutritional action on four specific functions:
• the
function of the nervous system;
•
normal psychological function;
•
energy production and use;
•
muscle function.
Magnesium is the central active ingredient. The B vitamins reinforce the formula’s consistency by acting at different stages of energy production and nervous-system function.
Vitamins B3, B5, B6 and B9, together with magnesium, also contribute to reducing tiredness and fatigue.
The bottle of
90 plant-based capsules provides
30 days of supplementation at the recommended daily dose.
Who is this product for? MagNeuro may be particularly suitable for:
• adults going through a
period of temporary tiredness or an intensive routine;
• people wishing to
support their nervous system and psychological functions during a demanding period;
• adults whose diet contains
few nuts and seeds, whole grains, pulses or other dietary sources of magnesium;
•
athletes and physically active people looking for support for muscle function, electrolyte balance and energy-yielding metabolism;
• people seeking a
plant-based formula combining magnesium and B vitamins without multiplying the number of different products they take.
What does the science say? Magnesium and vitamin B6 in relation to perceived stress A
clinical study published in 2018 assessed the value of combining magnesium with vitamin B6 in stressed adults with a
blood magnesium level considered suboptimal.
The trial was conducted between May 2016 and January 2017 at four French centres. It included
264 adults aged 18 to 50,
74% of whom were women. Their average age was 31.6 years. Participants had
moderate to extremely high stress levels and a serum magnesium concentration between
0.45 and 0.85 mmol/L.
For
eight weeks, participants received daily:
• either
300 mg of elemental magnesium as magnesium lactate dihydrate, combined with
30 mg of vitamin B6 as pyridoxine hydrochloride;
• or the
same amount of magnesium as found in MagNeuro.
The doses were divided into
three intakes with meals. The magnesium–vitamin B6 combination was compared with magnesium alone. The investigators were unaware of group allocation.
After eight weeks, the DASS-42 stress score had decreased:
• by
44.9% in the magnesium–vitamin B6 group;
• by
42.4% in the magnesium-only group.
In the overall population, the difference between groups was not statistically significant. Among the
162 participants who initially had severe or extremely severe stress, the improvement reached
50.1% with the combination, compared with 41.3% with magnesium alone. This subgroup analysis showed a
3.16-point difference in favour of the combination.
