Turmeric+ combines, in
a single daily capsule,
200 mg of turmeric extract, 97 mg of turmeric and 3 mg of black pepper. This combination mainly targets
joint comfort, mobility and protection against oxidative stress.
Turmeric, a plant traditionally valued in AsiaTurmeric, or
Curcuma longa, belongs to the same botanical family as ginger. Native to
South Asia, it has held an important place in
Indian culinary and Ayurvedic traditions for centuries.
The part traditionally used is the
rhizome, an underground stem with a characteristic yellow-orange colour. After harvesting, the rhizomes are
cleaned, heat-treated, dried and then ground into powder. Extraction processes are then used to concentrate certain families of plant compounds.
The rhizome notably contains
curcuminoids: curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin.
Curcumin is both turmeric’s main pigment and its most studied compound. The plant also contains other constituents, notably aromatic compounds such as
turmerones.
An action centred on joint comfortA joint must enable bones to move with as little friction as possible.
Cartilage covers their ends, while
synovial fluid facilitates gliding. Around this structure, the synovial membrane, ligaments, tendons and muscles contribute to movement stability.
Age, repeated movements, sporting activity or everyday mechanical strain can disrupt this balance. Joint cells then release more messengers that sustain local sensitivity, stiffness and discomfort.
Curcuminoids act on several mechanisms that regulate these messengers. In particular, they help moderate the activation of certain cellular pathways, including
NF-κB, involved in the production of cytokines and other mediators associated with the inflammatory response. This action explains turmeric’s value in supporting the
flexibility, mobility and comfort of joints under strain.
Curcuminoids can also act on certain enzymes involved in
renewing the cartilage matrix.
Support against oxidative stressJoint movements and normal cell function produce reactive molecules. When these become too numerous, they can accentuate tissue sensitivity and disrupt the function of cartilage cells.
Curcumin has a structure capable of interacting with some of these molecules. It also contributes to
activating cells’ natural antioxidant defences, notably through the
Nrf2 pathway. Turmeric therefore helps
protect tissues against the consequences of excess oxidative stress, complementing its role in balancing inflammatory reactions.
Turmeric extract and turmeric: two complementary contributionsThe formula combines
200 mg of turmeric extract with 97 mg of turmeric. The
extract is the formula’s main contribution and is designed to provide the plant’s sought-after compounds. The turmeric added separately completes this contribution with a
less concentrated plant fraction.
Why add black pepper?Curcumin dissolves poorly in water and is rapidly processed by the body after ingestion.
Black pepper naturally contains
piperine, a molecule capable of slowing certain stages of this processing.
Turmeric+ provides
3 mg of black pepper per capsule.
Taking it
during a meal is particularly appropriate for the fat-soluble nature of curcuminoids, as dietary fats promote their dispersion in the digestive system.
Formula characteristics •
Combination of a turmeric extract, turmeric and black pepper.
•
Just one capsule per day.
• Pack covering
60 days of use.
•
Vegetable capsules.
• Formula suitable for a
vegetarian or vegan diet.
• Magnesium salt of fatty acids used as a technological ingredient to facilitate capsule production.
Who is this product for?Turmeric+ may be particularly suitable for adults wishing to
preserve joint comfort and maintain smooth mobility every day. It may be relevant during
periods of more intense physical activity, when joints are put under strain by repeated movements or when advancing age is accompanied by a feeling of stiffness. Its format of
one vegetable capsule per day is also intended for people looking for a
simple, vegan, two-month routine.
Ingredient synergyThe formula is based on a
simple complementarity between the three components.
Turmeric extract forms the formula’s main active base. It provides the fraction most concentrated in turmeric compounds, notably curcuminoids, which contribute to mechanisms related to
joint comfort and protection against oxidative stress.
Whole turmeric completes this extract. It provides a broader plant matrix containing other natural constituents of the plant, enriching the overall approach without altering the formula’s main rationale.
Black pepper plays a supporting role. Thanks to the natural presence of
piperine, it is traditionally used to support the absorption of turmeric compounds in the body. In this formula, it is present in a small quantity and acts as a
bioavailability cofactor.
Together, they form a coherent turmeric-based combination designed to
support joint comfort and cellular protection in a simple daily serving.
What does the science say?An Australian clinical trial dedicated to knee comfortIn
2020, researchers at the
University of Tasmania sought to determine whether a
Curcuma longa extract could improve joint symptoms and modify the condition of the knee’s synovial membrane.
This
randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial included
70 adults with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis accompanied by effusion-synovitis visible on ultrasound. The participants’ average age was 61.8, and 56% were women.
For
12 weeks:
•
36 participants received two daily 500 mg capsules of Curcuma longa extract, or 1,000 mg per day;
•
34 participants received two identical-looking placebo capsules.
After 12 weeks, the reduction in pain assessed on a 100 mm visual scale was
9.1 mm greater in the turmeric group than in the placebo group, with a confidence interval ranging from −17.8 to −0.4 mm. The WOMAC knee-pain score also improved, with a
difference of −47.2 mm in favour of turmeric.
These results support the value of a
turmeric extract in supporting perceived comfort and joint function.
