Tilleul Gemmo is a single-plant formula containing a concentrated linden-bud extract in an easy-to-dilute liquid format. Its concentration corresponds to 5% dry plant, and 15 drops provide 37.5 mg of linden as a dry-weight equivalent. Our laboratory uses linden of French origin, and the water used to produce our liquid extracts is prepared according to the Plocher method.
Natural support when the mind remains alert
Linden is traditionally associated with calm and relaxation. It is particularly relevant when falling asleep is disrupted by temporary tension, a persistent feeling of alertness or thoughts that are difficult to quieten.
To fall asleep, the body must gradually reduce the signals that maintain alertness. The brain becomes less attentive to external stimuli, muscle tone decreases, and the neural circuits responsible for calm become more prominent. Linden bud supports this relaxation phase and helps create an inner state that is more conducive to sleep.
Our formula does not contain melatonin: it therefore does not act as a direct signal to the body clock. Its positioning is based primarily on the relaxation that naturally precedes falling asleep.
The link with the nervous system’s natural “brake”
GABA is the brain’s main calming messenger. By binding to GABA-A receptors, it opens channels that make neurons less reactive. This reduction in nervous excitability facilitates the transition from a state of sustained alertness to a calmer state.
For the buds of silver linden, Tilia tomentosa, an interaction with these GABA-A receptors has been observed experimentally. It provides a possible physiological explanation for the traditional use of the bud to promote calm.
Why use the bud?
The bud is a young plant tissue that is still developing, with a chemical profile different from that of the flowers, leaves or sapwood. Tilia tomentosa bud macerates analysed in the literature notably contain phenolic acids, catechins and flavonols. These families of compounds form the bud phytocomplex and notably contribute to protecting cells against oxidative stress.
An alcohol-free liquid form
Glycerinated aqueous extraction uses a carrier combining water and glycerine. This makes it possible to carry various bud compounds in a liquid preparation, without using alcohol. Here, glycerine plays the technological role of solvent and carrier.
This form suits people looking for a simple, concentrated formula adjustable from 5 to 15 drops per day. The 30 ml dropper bottle represents approximately 600 drops.
Origin and tradition
Lindens belong to the genus Tilia and the Malvaceae family. They are naturally present in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The flowers of several European species have a long tradition of use for mild manifestations of mental stress, recognised in the European Medicines Agency monograph.
The use of growing plant tissues, such as buds and young shoots, was subsequently structured in the twentieth century with the development of gemmotherapy by the Belgian physician Pol Henry.
Who is this product for?
Tilleul Gemmo may be particularly suitable for:
• people whose ability to fall asleep is disrupted by mental agitation or temporary nervous tension;
• those wishing to establish a relaxation routine at the end of the day;
• people looking for a single-plant formula without melatonin or alcohol;
• those who favour a liquid extract that allows intake to be adjusted between 5 and 15 drops;
• people attentive to the French origin of the plant material and a concentration expressed as a dry-plant equivalent.
